: The 34th Mahaparayan Day of Bharat Ratna former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi was celebrated at Jayadeva Bhavan in Bhubaneswar under the chairmanship of State President Satyabrat Nayak, under the joint auspices of Odisha Rajiv Gandhi Students Forum and Rajiv Gandhi Study Circle. Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee President Shri Bhakta Charan Das graced the occasion as the chief guest and inaugurated the event by lighting the lamp. In his speech, he highlighted Rajiv Gandhi’s contribution in the field of education, health, science, and the progress of the Panchayati Raj system in the country. He said that Bharat Ratna Rajiv Gandhi had a dream to make India a leading superpower in the entire world and had taken several steps which are slowly taking shape today. Shri Das, the Pradesh Congress President, expressed his opinion that portraying the youth and students as the future of the country and inspiring them to be inspired by the life of Mahatma Gandhi, encouraged the students through patriotic songs on this occasion. Former Vice Chancellor of Utkal University, Professor Binayak Rath, joined as the keynote speaker and in his speech he said that during his tenure as a professor at IIT Kanpur he had met Rajiv Gandhi directly and indirectly at various technical events and that Rajiv Gandhi was always concerned and striving for comprehensive progress in the field of science and technology. Former Member of Parliament, National Vice President and State President of Indian trade union congress ( INTUC) Dr. Ramachandra Khuntia, who was the guest of honor, said that if the youth dream of using their talents for the benefit of the country and realize it, a new era can be built for our Odisha and India and that Rajiv Gandhi was constantly working in the field of national unity, peace, goodwill, good relations between states and increasing world friendship. Former Minister Suresh Kumar Routray and Daily Newspapers Paryabekhyak and The Kalinga Chronicle Chief editor and National president of Indian federation of small and medium newspapers ,Rashitya Patrakaar mahasangh Dr. Pabitra Mohan Samantray attended the event as the guests of honour and remembered Rajiv Gandhi and appealed to the youth and students to be inspired by the ideals of Rajiv Gandhi. The dream of building India was always burning in Rajiv Gandhi’s mind and only the youth came forward with sincerity to develop this dream of India. Currently, wrong information is being spread and circulated on YouTube and social media against other freedom fighters like Mahatma Gandhi, Jawaharlal Nehru. The future of the country is our student society, Satyabrat Nayak, the state president of the forum, appealed to the students to ignore the above incidents and embrace the truth. 148 Odisha’s NCC Cadets , scout & Guide, NSS members who have achieved outstanding achievements in the fields of volunteerism, youth red cross, literature, science, sports, art, Odissi dance, music were honored with the State Level Rajiv Gandhi Pratibha Award-2025 by the chief guest and other guests.

Vice President of Student Forum Krishnachandra Sahu, Chitokonda MLA Mr Mangu khila, Bhavani Shankar Jena, Coordinator Priyabrat Nayak, Ajay Kumar Paikaraya, Sagar Ranjan Parida, Vinod Kumar Raut, Anil Mohanty, Shiv Prasad Das, Vidya Charan Suna, Santosh Kumar Nayak, Debendra Das and Soma Devi, a student of Kanakamanjari Women’s College Anandpur College, conducted the award distribution ceremony. Finally, Vice President Krishnachandra Sahu proposed the vote of thanks.
